Sacramento Firefighters Agree To Delay Raise, Contribute 6% To Pension

SACRAMENTO, CA &#8211 Sacramento firefighters have agreed to contribute 6% towards their pensions and to delay a 5% raise originally due in 2008. The decision makes the firefighters the first public safety union in Sacramento to pay part of their pension contribution. The 6% pension contribution and the pay increase are both scheduled to start on January 1, 2013.

The 17-month contract was ratified by members on Saturday August 6 by a vote of 300-50.
