HIALEAH, FL – The city of Hialeah, Florida will lay off over 100 fire & rescue employees as part of a move to avoid a budget deficit of nearly $13 million. The layoffs will start Saturday, the beginning of the fiscal year, when 14 firefighters and nine trainees are let go and 12 vacancies eliminated. Another 70 more firefighters will be dismissed, half on December 1 and the other half on March 1, 2012.
