A northern Minnesota police chief is under investigation for comments he allegedly made through social media.
The investigation stems from comments made from a Facebook account, claiming to be Pike Bay Police Chief Zeb Hemsworth.
The comments were made February 1st in response to a woman expressing her support for abortion rights.
The woman, named Poisoned Ivy, commented on the Facebook thread, “Women have the right to chose what guns we want just like a man and we also have the right to choose if we want/need an abortion via Roe vs Wade. I assume that was the double meaning to this post.”
Hemsworth is accused of calling the woman a “piece of s**t scum sucking baby killing b***h” and a “filthy swanky s**t.”
The Hemsworth Facebook page has since been either locked down or deleted.
Hemsworth tells KSTP.com he is under internal investigation by the Pike Bay Township Board.
He wouldn’t confirm or deny he made the posts on Facebook.
“I was ordered not to comment on the allegations until the investigation was complete,” said Hemsworth.
A closed meeting was called Tuesday night to address the allegations, according to Township Clerk Matt Erickson.
Hemsworth has not been placed on leave.
According to the city’s website the department consists of four officers, including Hemsworth.
Pike Bay is located 20 miles southeast of Bemidji.
