Cleveland Police Fire One Officer, Suspend Another Over Social Media Postings

CLEVELAND, OH &#8211 Cleveland police have fired a male recruit and suspended a female officer over their social media postings.

Sgt. Sammy Morris confirmed the firing and suspension to NewsChannel5 on Tuesday afternoon.
Morris said the officer working in the property room was suspended for five days over social media postings on her personal profile.

The recruit was fired for the same reason, though Morris did not go into detail about what either of the posts said.
On Feb. 28, the Cleveland Police Department issued a Social Media and Internet Use Departmental Notice.
In 2011, Chief McGrath installed the manual of rules for social media, networking and Internet usage.

The names of either person have not been released.
