Police Chief Resigns Over Facebook Post

CHICKASHA, OK &#8211 Chickasha Police Chief Eddie Adamson resigned Wednesday after coming under fire for sharing a Facebook post that included a racial slur, a city official said.

Adamson recently shared a video clip on Facebook from the movie “Role Models,” City Manager Stewart Fairburn said. The clip included a caption that showed a variation of the N-word.

Adamson told the city manager he did not notice the caption was there when he shared the post, Fairburn said. When it was brought to Adamson’s attention, he immediately removed it and apologized to his officers, Fairburn said.

Some members of the police department signed a letter expressing concerns about the incident, Fairburn said.

Adamson had served as Chickasha’s police chief for about two years, Fairburn said. Assistant Police Chief Shannon McClain is serving as interim police chief, Fairburn said.
