A Facebook post from a New York City Corrections Department captain’s husband has gone viral. In the post, the man calls the NYPD “pigs” and says it’s time to “shoot back.”

The post was made Tuesday night on the shared Facebook account of Correction Captain La Shonda Stanley and her husband Rashid Stanley. Though their Facebook page is private, a screen capture of the post was widely shared. Though the post was signed “Mr. Stanley,” a caption misidentified the post as being from an NYC corrections officer.

he post is in response to viral videos of people in Brooklyn and Harlem mocking and splashing police with water. In one of the videos, when police responded to reports of men shooting passersby with water guns in Harlem, the men sprayed the officers. One officer was struck with a bucket thrown by someone in the crowd.

In the Harlem incident, Ibrahima Niang, 22, and Abdoulaye Diallo, 17, were arrested and charged with criminal mischief.

Though there were initially no arrests in the Brooklyn incident, Courtney Thompson, 28, turned himself in today. Thompson was charged with obstructing governmental administration, criminal mischief and criminal tampering for damaging police equipment.

“How easily people forget. Y’all upset about some pigs getting water thrown on them. They’re lucky they didn’t get shot while making an arrest!” Rashid Stanley allegedly wrote.

The post also brings up the death of Eric Garner, who was killed by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo. Video of the incident shows Pantaleo putting Garner in a chokehold for 15 seconds.

A grand jury refused to indict Pantaleo in 2014. However, the Garner case was in the news again on July 16, it was announced the officers involved in Garner’s death will not face any federal charges. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has also been criticized for refusing to fire any of the officers involved in Garner’s death.

“For those so-called good cops that will say ‘Not all cops are bad’… death to you scumbags also, you stand by and allow your fellow officers to do wrong, you [are] guilty as well,” the post reads.

The Facebook post went viral among members of New York law enforcement. La Shonda Stanley has reportedly told her friends and coworkers her husband made the post, but she could still be in trouble the New York Daily News reports.

A spokeswoman for the New York Corrections Department said they were looking into the matter, but had no comment.
