We’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Rights of Police Officers seminar scheduled for June 17-19 in Las Vegas. I wanted to provide you with an explanation as to our thinking.
We place the highest priority on the health and safety of our seminar attendees. The number of COVID-19 cases in Nevada is continuing to increase on a daily basis. Las Vegas casinos are closed and there is no timetable for when they will reopen. From public statements made yesterday by Nevada’s governor, it appears the casinos will continue to be closed for weeks and more likely months. We simply cannot see placing our customers into such an environment.
In addition, there are the practical considerations. Many of our attendees are still under orders from their employers not to travel out of state, are working extended schedules, and/or have restricted leave. Without a firm date for the reopening of Las Vegas, our attendees would not be able to make the definite plans that are usually required.
We will promptly refund all paid seminar registrations. Caesars Entertainment has agreed to cancel any hotel reservations for the Flamingo or the LINQ hotels made by those who have registered for the seminar. We recommend that you contact the hotels at 800-732-2111 for the Flamingo and at 888-373-9855 for the LINQ to make sure that this has been done. Also, there are instructions on the confirmation email you received from the hotel as to how to cancel your reservation.
We hope you’ll join us at one of the three seminars we have scheduled in the fall. Our Grievances, Arbitration & Past Practices seminar will be held on September 23-25 in Las Vegas, our Health & Wellness Programs For Public Safety Agencies will be held on October 21-23 in Nashville, and our Advanced Police Discipline seminar will be held on November 18-20 in Las Vegas. You can learn more about and register for the seminars on our website.
We’re sorry to have to make the decision to cancel the seminar and hope that you understand. We look forward to seeing you at a future LRIS seminar.
