Houston Police Officer Resigns After Being Linked To Capitol Takeover

The Houston police officer who may face federal charges for participating in the Capitol takeover resigned Thursday, ahead of his disciplinary meeting with HPD Chief Art Acevedo, officials said.

Tam Pham was placed on administrative leave Wednesday and scheduled to attend a disciplinary hearing with Acevedo — though the chief expressed doubt that the officer would attend.

Pham, an 18-year veteran of the Houston Police Department, was believed to have attended the insurrection and entered the Capitol building, Acevedo said this week. In a phone call, the Westside patrol officer said he was among the thousands who gathered in Washington D.C. to take pictures.
