More Than 160 Syracuse Workers Ignore Covid Mandate; City Starts Discipline That Could End In Firings

Syracuse, N.Y. — About 15 percent of Syracuse city employees face disciplinary actions that could end with firings for not getting vaccinated or tested regularly for Covid, according to city officials.

The city has started disciplinary action against 166 people, said Greg Loh, the mayor’s chief policy officer.

The city’s workers had a deadline of Sunday to get the Covid-19 vaccine or start being tested each week. Workers who don’t comply would be fired at the end of the disciplinary process, he said.
