Hoboken Reinstates Firefighter Who Was Charged With Forgery

Hoboken Firefighter Thomas Aligo, who was suspended in 2020 after being charged with embezzling union funds, was reinstated to the fire department Wednesday, the firefighters’ union president confirmed.

The city made the ruling last weekthat Aligo would be allowed to return to work, said Hoboken Firefighters Union President Tom Worley.

Aligo has been suspended from the department since November 2020 when he was arrested on charges that he forged more than $28,000 worth of union checks between July 2018 and August 2020.
