Fairfax County Police Chief Declares Personnel Emergency Amid Staff Shortage

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis and senior staff declared a personnel emergency Thursday, according to a police source, which means mandatory overtime for police officers as FCPD grapples with an ongoing police officer shortage.

As of Monday, there were 189 police officer vacancies at FCPD, according to a police union source, and more are expected by the end of the week.
