Retention, Recruitment Focus Of New Tulsa Police Officers’ Contract

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — “Well this is a very unusual contract,” said Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police President Jeff Downs.

Normally, contracts between the city and the police union are for periods of one year, but staffing has become such a challenge that this contract is for a year and a half.

“And efforts to increase the wages enough that would encourage some of those officers that are able to retire to stay longer,” said Downs.
