Bloomington Offers Unique Housing Incentive To Attract And Keep Cops And Firefighters

Mayor John Hamilton says his “innovative housing incentive” that provides $100,000 to police officers and firefighters who buy a house in the city limits will attract new applicants and help retain those already on the job.

Announced Feb. 9, the down-payment program will initially offer the housing benefit to 10 police officers and 10 firefighters in the form of $100,000 no-interest loans that will total of $2 million.
