On Tuesday, public concerns were aired about the state of the county’s 911 staffing problem, and the center’s emergency first responders had something to say.
A vocal back-and-forth between commissioners and a union representative for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) attending the meeting became heated. The county solicitor, who was tied into the meeting through a conference call, kept stating commissioners were not to discuss what was occurring in negotiations and board Chairman Gerald Walker said, “We are not negotiating anything here.”
