Elizabeth Borough Moves Forward With Proposed Plans To Disband Police Department

ELIZABETH, Pa. —

The Elizabeth Borough Council voted Tuesday night to move forward with proposed plans to disband its police department.

Currently, there is just one full-time police officer in Elizabeth Borough, Chief William Sombo.

Sombo is helped by a rotating list of part-time officers.

Mayor Barry Boucher told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that a motion to provide a three-month notice of “intent to eliminate the police department” was passed. That notice will be made to the Teamsters Local Union No. 205.
