Austin Reaches One Full Year Without A Long-Term Police Contract

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police officers have officially been operating for one full calendar year without a long-term police contract, as the city and the police union continue negotiations toward a new contract.

The previous long-term contract expired on April 1, 2023. After nearly a year away, last month, the Austin Police Association announced it would return to the negotiating table with the city.
