Hartford Police Union Files Grievance Against Chief, City

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – The Hartford Police Union filed a grievance against the chief and city for forcing officers to work on their days off.

Union president James Rutkauski issued a news release that said the practice has been happening for the past three years under Hartford Police Chief James Thody.

“The Hartford Police Union expresses disgust with the ongoing mandate requiring officers to work on their regular days off, a policy initiated on Oct. 1, 2021, under Chief Thody,” Rutkauski said in the release. “Originally proposed as a 90-day trial, this practice has stretched into nearly three years, severely affecting officers’ quality of life.”
